Records meet IQA/EQA requirements
OneFile is the management system used by the department for NVQ. The system tracks the assessment process. It records the pieces of evidence provided by the student, the assessment and feedback provided by the assessor, and the comments of the internal verifier (IV). Also, the external verifier has access to this system and can produce his assessment report.
Internal and external verifiers confirm the assessment process and decision
I assess the Pearson Edexcel Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision (Construction) qualification. National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are work-based qualifications that give learners the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their competence in the area of work or job role to which the qualification relates. I make judgments about the evidence provided by the learners against the criteria. Then the assigned IV checks the assessment judgment that I have made and decides whether he agrees with it or not. He can suggest further information to be provided by the learners or approve the judgment I made as the assessor. The external verifier, who works with the Awarding Body (Pearson) then checks the judgment made by me and the internal verifier.
Types of evidence required
The level 4 NVQ units I assess require both performance and descriptive pieces of evidence. The measurable verbs within the criteria determine the type of evidence that would be required. For example, if the criterion requires the students to assess or produce resources, they must upload proof. If the criterion requires the students to explain or describe concepts, they only need to produce written proof discussing the concepts without uploading pieces of evidence to support the discussion.
