Equality and diversity, as well as bilingualism if applicable, are crucial factors that are carefully considered throughout the assessment process. It is essential to ensure that individuals from all backgrounds and cultures are provided with equal opportunities and are treated fairly. Assessments are designed to be inclusive, taking into account the diverse needs, abilities, and experiences of each individual. This means that assessments are tailored to accommodate different learning styles, languages, and cultural norms. In cases where bilingualism is applicable, language barriers are addressed by providing the necessary support and resources to ensure that individuals can fully express their knowledge and understanding. By embracing equality and diversity, the assessment process aims to create an environment where everyone's unique attributes are respected and valued, fostering an inclusive and fair evaluation for all.

As an assessor, I am responsible for ensuring there is equality and diversity in my assessment approach to ensure students have quality educational experiences. I use unit breakdown files as a visual tool to aid in the completion of the NVQ units. I also record short general support videos about each of the units to ensure the requirements are unambiguous and to avoid language barriers. In addition, I set up 1:1 recorded tutorial sessions with students to ensure they understand all the requirements of the assessments and can view the recording at a later time to provide further clarity.

Also, though students usually have about one academic month to complete one NVQ unit, this duration is not fixed and can be flexible to support autistic learners. This also agrees with the requirements of the awarding body and qualification.
