The Importance of Following Procedures for the Management of Information Relating to Assessment
Explore the critical role of following procedures in managing assessment-related information. Discover how adherence to protocols ensures accuracy, security, and integrity in the assessment process.
Provide accurate information on learner achievement:
Clarification can easily be made if an error was made during the transfer of the student’s final grade to the management system. The assessment data must be restricted to the assessors and IQA responsible for the specific student group. This is to prevent tampering with results by other personnel within the institution.
Contribute to quality assurance and standardisation processes:
This is important as it provides proof that the assessment process is fair. The record must be accessible to the internal verifier and external verifier during the quality assurance and standardisation processes. For example, for my units, the student works and my corresponding feedbacks are stored in MS Teams. The sampling process required by the IQA and EQA can be remotely and easily done via this learning management system.
Provide a basis for feedback to the learner and review learner's progress:
The progress of students can be tracked using an appropriate management system. Their development over the duration of their programme can be monitored. Also, the feedback provided by the assessors can be seen by the students, who can then apply this in future/other assignments.
Make available information in the event of appeals:
The assessment data of students must be kept securely to be used in the event of appeals/claims made by the students. These data must be readily available for use by the IQA, the Dean of Quality Improvement, and the Awarding Body if needed.
